Notice: One of the first things I noticed in S-Town was the accents in the characters voices. It added character and a sense of belonging to the story.

Pattern: A very repeated pattern in S-Town was the theme of corruption and bad energy that Woodstock gave to John. Often times throughout the text every time he would describe the town it was always with a bad connotation.

Contrast: I noticed there was a big contrast between John’s view and Brian’s view of Woodstock, Alabama. Every time John mentioned his city it was only about the bad things that it was filled with. On the other hand, Brian often spent time reflecting on the beauty that the city held.

Feeling:The overall feeling of the text was: Depressing. In my opinion, the tone that John used to describe the environment made me feel not so good. From his description of the people, morals and overall energy the city emitted. It seemed to be a depressing place that everyone who lived there felt stuck in.
